Official Liberty County Inmate Search
The official web path for current local custody is the Liberty County current inmate roster. It is a public InteropWeb roster for the Liberty County Jail, not a statewide prison database. The roster opens to currently booked inmates and supports name filtering. It also has two other access points: a 24 Hours Arrests tab for recent bookings and an Inmates by Arrest Date tab for date-based review.
The Liberty County jail roster is useful when a person may be in pretrial custody, recently booked after a local arrest, held on a county sentence, or held for another agency in the county jail. It is not the right tool for a sentenced TDCJ prisoner at Hightower, Plane, Henley, or Bell. Those state facilities use the TDCJ locator. The research file also found no confirmed official Liberty County Sheriff's Office mobile app with an inmate-roster feature, so the web roster and fallback channels matter.
The Current Inmates tab shows the name-filter fields and pagination used in the Liberty County jail roster search.
The current-inmates view is best for people who may still be booked at Liberty County Jail. If release or transfer has occurred, use the records request process or another locator.
Liberty County Roster Search Fields
The roster search is simple, but broad searches are often better than exact searches. A last-name-only search can catch spelling variants or middle-name differences. A first name can narrow results after the broader result set appears. The roster can also be browsed page by page, which helps when the last name is unknown or misspelled.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | No | Use first for uncertain spelling. |
| First Name | Text | No | Add only after a broad search. |
| Search Inmates | Button | n/a | Runs the name filter. |
| Current Inmates | Tab | n/a | Shows people currently booked. |
| 24 Hours Arrests | Tab | n/a | Shows recent jail bookings. |
| Inmates by Arrest Date | Tab | n/a | Useful when the booking date is known. |
Search Liberty County Jail Records
A current custody search should move from the roster to the jail phone line, then to records requests or other custody systems if needed. This order avoids a common error: treating a missing online result as proof that no arrest occurred. New intake, release, transfer, spelling, and outside holds can all affect what the public page shows.
- Open the Liberty County current inmate roster and start on Current Inmates.
- Search by last name. Add the first name only if too many results appear.
- Use the 24 Hours Arrests tab for a very recent booking.
- Use Inmates by Arrest Date if the arrest date is known.
- Call Liberty County Jail at 936-336-9395 if the roster does not answer the custody question.
- Use NextRequest or sheriff records channels for booking records not shown online.
The 24 Hours Arrests tab is a separate recent-booking view.
That recent-arrest view is helpful when the full current list is long or when a person has just reached intake.
What Liberty County Records Show
The roster is a booking and custody record, not a final criminal-history report. It can show a photo field, name, status, arrest agency, age, and bond information. It did not confirm every court-facing field in the list view reviewed. A filed complaint, information, indictment, court date, or final disposition must be checked through the clerk or court system after the case is opened.
| Roster Field | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Image | A booking-photo area or image-not-available placeholder. |
| Name | Uppercase name in last-name-first style. |
| Status | Current booking status, such as CURRENTLY BOOKED. |
| Arrest date and agency | Date and agency text entered with the booking. |
| Age and sex | Basic person fields visible in the roster layout. |
| Bond | Dollar amount, NOT SET, DENIED, or another entered status. |
- Booking
- The jail intake process that creates the custody record.
- Detainer
- A hold or request from another agency.
- PR bond
- Release based on a written promise and conditions rather than full cash payment.
- Remand
- A court order keeping a person in custody.
Liberty County Jail Contact
When the online roster is incomplete, call the jail rather than guessing. The sheriff contact page lists Liberty County Jail at 936-336-9395 and identifies jail-specific roles such as jail administrator, captain, commissary contact, and inmate property contact. Custody questions, property questions, and commissary questions may not all go to the same staff member.

Liberty County Jail Visitation
The official text captured for Liberty County did not publish a complete visitor schedule, video-visit vendor, dress code, or fee list. The safe record-backed instruction is to call the jail before traveling. Bring government photo identification and ask about lobby hours, visitor entrance, prohibited items, property pickup, and any current restrictions.
| Topic | Located Detail | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Jail phone | 936-336-9395 | Confirm current rules before arrival. |
| Commissary | Sheriff contact page lists a commissary role | Ask jail staff for current vendor and limits. |
| Inmate property | Sheriff contact page lists property routing | Ask before bringing or picking up property. |
| Published schedule | Not located in reviewed official text | Do not rely on unofficial schedules. |
Request Liberty County Booking Records
For jail records not shown on the public roster, use the sheriff records route or the county public-information process. Liberty County maintains a NextRequest public-records portal, and the sheriff has a records page. A request should include full name, date of birth if known, booking date, arresting agency, and the exact record requested, such as booking sheet, incident record, or booking photograph.
The county public-information page notes that clerk and court records may be routed to the proper clerk instead of the sheriff. Certified copies are listed as an additional $5.00 per document plus $1.00 per page. For charges filed after a booking, use the District Clerk, County Clerk, iDocket, or Re:SearchTX path rather than assuming the jail roster is the final charge record.
The Liberty County NextRequest portal is the formal public-information channel captured for records requests.
The portal is useful for precise records requests, especially when a current roster entry does not show the full document a requester needs.
Liberty County Custody Alternatives
State, federal, immigration, and notification systems cover different records. Use the TDCJ locator when a person has been sentenced and transferred to a Texas prison. Use the BOP locator for federal inmate custody and the ICE locator for immigration detention. Use Texas VINELink for custody notification support when available.
| Lookup | Best Use | Not For |
|---|---|---|
| Liberty County roster | Current county jail custody | Sentenced state-prison profiles |
| TDCJ Inmate Search | Current TDCJ prisoners | New county jail intake |
| BOP locator | Federal inmates | County mugshots |
| ICE ODLS | Immigration detainees | Local bond posting |
Liberty County Search Problems
Several local quirks can make a valid Liberty County inmate record hard to find. The current roster was long enough to require pagination during the research inspection, so the first page is not the full jail population. Name spelling can vary, and a first-name filter can hide a person if the roster uses a middle name, nickname, or different spelling. A new arrestee may still be in intake before the public card appears.
Release and transfer create a different problem. A person may leave the Liberty County Jail roster because bond posted, charges were disposed, another agency picked up the person, or TDCJ received the person after sentencing. If the roster shows a U.S. Marshal agency string or another outside hold, the local bond field may not tell the whole release story. Call the jail for current custody before paying money or traveling.
No confirmed official Liberty County Sheriff's Office mobile app with a roster feature was located in the research file. Use the web roster, jail phone, NextRequest, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, and VINELink channels that were documented.
For older records, write down the known facts before making a request. Useful details include full legal name, possible spelling, date of birth, arrest date, arresting agency, bond status, and whether the request is for a booking sheet, mugshot, jail incident record, or bond record. That level of detail helps the sheriff, county records staff, or clerk route the request to the right custodian.
When a roster entry and a court record appear to disagree, treat them as different stages. The roster reflects jail intake and custody status. The court record reflects prosecutor filing and clerk activity after arrest. Both can be true at different points in the same case.
